OUR WINE LIST
Owner François Louy & Sommelier, Rocco Spagnardi, work hard
to create one of the most unique and affordable wine lists in the city.
Focusing on the hard to find varietals, our list introduces the most
passionate producers in Italy who take pride in respecting the unique
characteristics of the land and grape varietals.
We believe wine is an essential part of a meal & work hard to
choose wines that best complement our menu.
In an effort to bring you these wines at reasonable prices, we have
the lowest mark up in the industry &
whenever we find a great deal on a fantastic wine, we pass it on to you.
JUST IN :
This year, the Gambero Rosso voted ANTONIOLO, from northern Piemonte, as
winery of the year. To celebrate, we are bringing in, directly from
the producer himself, some of the most coveted vintages they've ever
had. As usual, because these wines are exclusive to us, prices are
well below what they should be. Using 100% Nebbiolo grapes,
Antoniolo's wines, grown on volcanic and ancient glacier soils, are
rich in minerals, harmonious, and are considered to be some of the
most elegant and well-structured Nebbiolo's ever made in the region.
The grapes are always hand-picked, delicately pressed, and extreme
care is put into every bottle released.
1961 - The first great vintage
for the producer, is also the year Nonno Mario's (the original wine maker)
first grandson was born. So 5,000 bottles were set aside in honor of
his birth, and a few of them have now been released to us.
Our price: $215
1999 - "San
Francesco" - Single vineyard, with wonderful ripe plums and sweet spices.
Intense flavor with long finish. Aged for three and a half years before
being released.
Our price: $89
2000 - "Castelle"
- Single vineyard. 90 points from Robert Parker, who calls Antoniolo
northern Piemonte's "most ambitious, quality minded producer." This vintage
has a low yield and prime vineyard site, giving it great structure. More
violets and dried roses on the nose, full on the palate with both body
and flavor. Delicate finish
Our price: $74
2003 -
"Castelle" - Single Vineyard. Another great vintage that also recieved
90 points from RP. Fresher on the palate than the 2000, with more rasberry
and toasted almond. Two years in barrique, one in bottle, delicate
finish.
Our price: $74
